Animal Kingdom aka The Best Day Yet and other news!

Hey lovely readers.
I don't even know if anyone reads this and like I said I write it more for myself, but if anyone does; I am sorry that I don't update this as much as I would like. In this post I decided to write about my awesome day on Monday. It was definitely the most magical day I have had since I got to Florida. It was my first day off after working six days straight so that was nice. The morning was nice. I finally got to relax. During the mid morning I even had an actual conversation with my roommate. Then my friend Joel invited me to go to Animal Kingdom. I got ready and was so excited because I had not gone to Animal Kingdom as a cast member yet. So we went and I had so much fun. We saw the Festival of the Lion King and it was my first time seeing it. It was awesome! Then I even got to try a Mickey pretzel which was so good. Then we got to meet Dug and Russell. It was magical. Dug kissed me and it made my day. After meeting Dug and Russell we went to go meet Pooh, Eeyore, and my love Tigger. Tigger kissed me as well and it basically made my life. It was literally the most amazing moment of my life. Well at least it felt like it. After that we walked around and then went to go see Finding Nemo The Musical which was really good as well. By the time it was over it was basically seven and the park closed at seven so we left. Then after we went to the Premium Outlets which I think are so awesome. It was fun. After the outlets we watched The Dark Knight. It was my first time. I know I'm late, don't judge me. It is such a good movie. Well I had such a good day and had amazing company the entire day basically. My friend Joel is pretty awesome and so fun to hang out with. Well that's a quick overview of my amazing Monday. I will attach pictures at the end of the post. :)
Now to other news. First, I am accepted to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for fall 2013 and I am so excited! YAY! :D I love Florida and Disney and my friends here and I am going to miss them so much, but at the same time I love UWO so I am excited to get to go back. Also, yesterday was my last day off for the next ten days or possibly longer who knows. It shall be a very interesting week. I will try to update you guys during this week, if I don't I will whenever I get a day off again. I was talking to my roommate the other day and it made me start thinking that when my program ends in August I am going to cry so much the day I leave. I am probably going to run out of tears. I'm going to miss it here and all of my friends, but especially Theresa, Jordan and Joel. I'm going to ball so much. I'm going to try not to think about that now though I still have over four months to enjoy with them so I'm happy about that. I am hoping I have the energy and strength to make it through the next week and a half. Disney is a wonderful place, but in all reality it isn't always magical. The crazy thing is that even when it's not you still can't help but love it. I have only been here two months and I already feel like I can write a book about what I've gone through. By the end of the program I just might. ;) I have to get ready for work soon, so I guess I'll stop writing for now. I will write soon. I appreciate any readers I get and would love to know who you are. Leave comments. Have a magical day! Here are some pictures.

A sneak peak into my role and updates

Hey there lovely readers,

I know it's been a while since I have written anything. I all of a sudden I got extremely busy. I am not sure if anyone actually read this so I write this more for me because I love to write. Anyways I thought I would make this post about a little about my role and updates of what has been going on here in the last two months. Can you believe it's been two months already?? Hope you enjoy reading it.
Okay, so I am not sure if I mentioned this before, but I am a parking attendant at Disney's Hollywood Studios. To be honest when I arrived and finally was given my official role I was not ecstatic. I mean I was so happy to be here and knew I would make the most of it, but it was definitely not my first choice. For five days I was just so nervous of what was to come. Sunday of the week I checked in I began training. I had a really awesome trainer Tyler. It made me more comfortable to have a trainer who is near my age. He was a really good trainer so that definitely helped ease the nerves. By the third day of training I was actually starting to like the job and was even glad I got put there, but I was also very tired. On the fourth day I had my assessment by George. He was great and made me feel comfortable and helped ease my nerves. Now two months later I can tell you guys that I really do enjoy my job. What is my job you are probably thinking. Well we have roughly about eight positions within parking. They are auto 9, auto 7, auto 6, fielder, tram loader, audience control, tram driver and tram spieler. There are other temporary positions, but those aren't taught to you during training so we won't talk about those. Auto 9 is always at the stage parking lot the parking lot closest to the park after the medical lot and they direct people to the medical lot, AAA diamond parking, buses to the charter lot, and guest drop off and pick up as well as taxis. In all honesty this is my least favorite position. Auto 7 directs traffic to whatever parking lot we are parking. Auto 6 is the point position who directs traffic down whatever row we are parking. A fielder directs the cars where to park. Tram loader does what the name implies help guest board the tram and make sure they are following our safety guidelines. Audience control basically makes sure people don't cross active roadways to try to board the tram. This position can be quite overwhelming at times. Then there's the tram. I love being on a tram most of the time. Either you're driving the tram which has it's ups and downs. The positive is, that is the only position that lets you sit down, but gives you basically no guest interaction. The spieler on the back of the tram lets the guest know our safety guidelines and important park information. So there you have it an overview of the roles within Hollywood Studios parking. As I said before I do enjoy my job, sometimes it's overwhelming and tiring and you just want to quit, but it's also very rewarding. Yes magic can even occur outside the park, but it's not always so magical in all truthfulness. The thing that makes it all worth it is the people I work with. My co-workers and the friends i've made make it magical every day even on a bad day. We are like a little family. I know I have made friends for a lifetime. If you have any questions about my role just comment and I will answer them.
Now to a quick update on the last two months. I feel like I can write a book about my experiences here && it's only been two months and I haven't even done much yet. This will be a short version and I will definitely write a more descriptive update later. Well January it went by very fast you can say. I mean days here feel like weeks, but in a good way. I flew down, moved in, had traditions, orientation, training, assessment, then worked for the rest of the month. I did go to Magic Kingdom with my roommates the first week and to Downtown Disney. I met this guy that goes to UW Milwaukee and is here on an extension of his program. I have met tons of people from all over it's like a dream come true. February definitely flew by. I continued to work tons. I have gotten really close to my friend Joel. He's pretty amazing and I'm glad we're friends. Thanks to him, I got to see the real Orlando. We went to Epcot once and it was so fun and I didn't even ride Soarin', my favorite attraction at Disney by the way. If i'm not working, I'm with my amazing roommates which I will talk about next, with Joel or home. I haven't done too much, but i'm trying to change that, but I'm always tired. I did go to Hollywood Studios by myself once and saw Disney Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun parade ( which I heard they're taking away. ): ). I got to be an audience member at American Idol and rode my favorite attraction at Hollywood which is the Great Movie Ride. It was fun, but then it started pouring so I left. So, about Theresa, Jordan and Laura. They are all pretty great. I am really close to Theresa and Jordan though. They are amazing and I am so glad we live together. My experience here would be much different without them. I know they will be a big part of my life for the rest of my life. I still have to go to Animal Kingdom, hopefully i go soon. On the other hand, I have gone to the Florida Mall, Millennia Mall and the Prime Outlets and they are all pretty great. There will be more to come.
I took forever to post this and I'm sorry. I am mad at myself for not keeping up. I need to try harder. Hopefully I will update this as often as possible. Well I am finishing this up on my way to work on my phone so I guess I'll end it here, but I will write soon.
I will post pictures on my next post.
Have a magical Saturday! :)

Random Post Today

Hey lovely readers,
Good evening. I hope you guys are enjoying my blog so far though I haven't really posted much. I promise it will get better as I go on. Today I was going to do a special post, but it's just going to have to wait. I waited to write this at night because I love to write and I had the day off today and I would have wanted to write more than one post and I am trying to limit myself to one post a day. Today turned out to be very different than planned. Originally I was going to work on school work in the morning and go to Hollywood Studios in the afternoon. Well I woke up this morning and thought I was going to die. I had the wold's worst cramps and decided that I would stay home instead and postpone my plans. I had a miracle happen to me and it's not something I can really just post on here for you guys, but lets just say it has to do with my health and I just hope things get better from here on. I was very happy for this miracle. When all of a sudden I get another miracle. I heard from a friend that I had not heard from in a while and that just means that I had a good day today aside from the pain, but a little ibuprofen helped. I did not accomplish as much as I would have liked, but at least I got some laundry done. Disney is the place where dreams come true so maybe mines will one day. Earlier today I got to talk to my friend Katie whom I have not talked to much in months and it was so nice to catch up and plan how fun our next school year is going to be. I love Disney and I am definitely coming back, but I cannot wait to go back to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and be around all my friends again. This afternoon I got to spend time with one of my roommates Theresa as we watched our Monday night show Switched At Birth it's something we do weekly and it's pretty awesome. I just wanted to let you guys know I got two miracles in one day and even above that I had a pretty good day off. This was just a random post about my day, but once again if there's anything you want me to write about let me know and I will definitely do so. Tomorrow's post will be more interesting. Good night loves. <3

A Little About The Disney College Program

Good evening my lovely readers. :) I thought I would write a post about my current adventure the Disney College Program. I don't even know where to begin. I obviously can write a whole entire blog just on the program and many have. I have a Tumblr about it, but haven't updated it very much though I wish I did. I guess on this post I will just describe what the program is and the steps to applying. I could go into great detail, but then if any of you want to apply you won't have any surprises and that's no fun. The Disney College Program is an internship in which you come work for Disney. You can choose to work for Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland Resort in California. It's pretty unique in that it encompasses three different things into one. Living, Earning, and Learning. Living is especially unique because not many internships provide housing. The housing is not free, but it includes so many things and they take it right from your paycheck so you never have to worry about it. Earning, not all internships are paid, but lucky for us this one is. Learning, this is pretty unique because most internships only either pay you or give you credit or neither and Disney gives you the opportunity for both which is pretty cool. This internship is an internship for any major because you learn valuable skills that will help in any career path. It is pretty cool that you are not required to take a class while you are here, but are encouraged to do so. You can work in any of the many roles. I have only been here a month and I'm here for another six months so you will definitely hear more about my adventures while I'm down here. For those of you who are interested in doing the program it can be done either in Fall or Spring and can be one of two lengths for each one either Fall or Fall Advantage or Spring or Spring Advantage. Fall is from mid to late August until January. Fall Advantage is from late May early June until January. Spring is from January until May. Finally, Spring Advantage is January to August. I am here for Spring Advantage. They don't have a lot of requirements to apply. You need to be 18 years old at the time of check in. You have to be enrolled in a college or university at least half time at the time of application. Also, you must have unrestricted work authorization. You must also have full availability. Lastly, you must meet your school's requirements for the program. Applying is pretty easy, but many people get so nervous so it's better to know about the process ahead of time. Step one is the application you can go to http://cp.disneycareers.com/en/default/ and click Apply Now to apply. After the application the next step is the web based interview. This is basically a questionnaire about you and your work ethic. My advice to you is be honest and consistent. After you will either be offered a phone interview or not. If you do move on to the phone interview that is the last step. During the phone interview once again be honest and consistent. If you apply and make it this far, congratulations! After the phone interview within two weeks you should find out whether you have been accepted or not and then from there is just planning. Something to note is that if you are offered a role you must accept and pay $300.00 within ten days, so make sure you save up and have the money. No, they are not charging you to do this internship they are for your first couple of weeks of rent and $100.00 go to the events they host and trust me it's worth it. Well that is an overview on the program and the application process. I hope it was helpful. If you have any questions make sure to leave them in the comments. If any of you are curious I work parking at Hollywood Studios. That's all for today it looks like. Hope you enjoyed it. Have a magical day! :D

First Post & Introduction.

Hey lovely readers,

Welcome to my blog. Today is the first day of this blog, but definitely not the last. I hope a year from now I can look back and still be keeping up with this blog and hopefully many more years to come. I will begin with an introduction of myself.
My name is Emily Marie. I am 20 years old and an aspiring blogger and journalist. I was born in Chicago, Illinois, but grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am sophomore in college studying Journalism with minors in Spanish and History. I currently attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, but I hope to transfer back to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh next fall. I love lots of things among them Disney, reading, soccer, social media, and dancing, but my one passion is writing. I may not be the world's greatest writer, but I hope to improve with time and I think one way of helping me improve is by having a blog. It took me forever to come up with a name and a title and it is still not my number one choice, but I thought it fit my personality. I have many dreams, goals and aspirations and I am working hard to accomplish them. I originally was going to write a blog about my experiences that I am currently having here in Florida. I am currently doing the Disney College Program and it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am sure you will read tons about that on here, but I felt like that would limit me, so I figured I could include it on here, but among other things as well. Basically, this blog is going to be about a lot of random things. Whatever I am in the mood of writing that day I will write about. This blog will be a way for me to work on my writing and for you (anyone who reads it) to get to know me. If you have any topic you would like me to write about don't hesitate to comment and I will do my best to write about that topic. I hope I actually get readers so you can all go on my adventures with me and see how I grow day by day. As I mentioned before, I am currently working at Disney and that keeps me busy so I might not be able to update every day, but I will definitely try do update this as much as I can. I will talk to you in my next post. Have a magical day!
